Initial situation
A new automatic small parts warehouse (AS/RS) was built at the main factory in Heidelberg as a 3-aisle container warehouse with double-deep storage.

Objectives of the project
- Increase of storage capacity by at least 80%
- Increase in the number of double cycles by at least 20%
- Order completion per picking station (instead of from aisle to aisle as before)
- Acceleration of the material flow after picking
- Optimised storage location strategy (fast movers vs. slow movers)
- Possibility of decoupling the material flow system
- Completion of the project within the planned schedule, cost and quality
- Plant and system availability of at least 98% after completion
- Replacement of the "black box" process
- Improvement of work ergonomics in the picking zones by means of intuitive graphical user interfaces
- Relieving order pickers from secondary activities
- Mapping of the required functionalities preferably in SAP
Applied solutions
SAP LES was implemented under SAP ECC 5.0.
For the RF transactions the WebSAP-Console was used together with the proven LogiPlus product LP MobileGRAFIX for intuitive graphical user interfaces.
