SAP MFS at a glance
SAP MFS (Material Flow System) is a module of SAP EWM (Extended Warehouse Management). It is used for material flow control in automated warehouse systems (high-bay warehouses, automated small-parts warehouses) as well as in complex, highly automated logistics centers. In real-time!
SAP MFS is used to comprehensively control, for example, highly dynamic, fully automated shuttle miniload warehouse systems, sorters or sequencers.
Integration as plus: communication between EWM & PLC
As part of SAP EWM, SAP MFS integrates the logistics system control into the SAP ERP system in use. SAP MFS enables direct communication between SAP EWM and a programmable logic controller (PLC) that controls the transport of handling units in the warehouse.
This enables direct connection to partially or fully automated warehouse systems. The need to integrate external middleware and subsystems such as warehouse control units or material flow computers is eliminated. This reduces operating costs and significantly increases transparency and flexibility.
