In this white paper, we look at the automation of warehouses that are operated with SAP EWM. We show how important it is to integrate the automation gears directly into SAP EWM in order to get the most out of both the automation solution and SAP EWM.
A prime example from practice in this white paper is the direct EWM integration of AutoStore and other automated systems at our customer DAW SE. It shows how DAW achieved holistic automation of the warehouse and what benefits could be achieved as a result.
The intralogistics market offers a wide range of automation solutions for in-house material transportation, storage and order picking, as well as for the packaging and loading of goods.
The initial decision for an automation solution is usually based on factors such as item size, order structures, capacity, flexibility and scalability. Integration into the WMS is only considered afterwards. However, this approach entails risks and sometimes considerable additional work for integration.
Instead, the possibilities for integration into existing structures and in particular into the WMS should the possibilities for integration into existing structures and in particular into the WMS. This also has an influence on the selection of the right project partner.
