Ludwigshafen, May 5, 2026 – Interest in the AutoStore warehouse automation solution continues to grow: the number of participants in webinars on this topic hosted by LogiPlus’s SAP EWM experts has increased significantly year over year. This underscores the growing interest in AutoStore, which is considered the market leader for automated small parts warehouses (AKL). Against this backdrop, LogiPlus demonstrated in March 2026 during the webinar “The Smart Journey of a Material in the Warehouse – AutoStore & SAP EWM Intelligently Integrated” how companies can make their warehouse processes more efficient, transparent, and future-proof through the intelligent integration of AutoStore and SAP EWM.
The webinar focused on the end-to-end management of a material in the warehouse—from arrival and putaway through internal material movements to order picking and just-in-time production supply. Using real-world project examples, it became clear how crucial stable and seamless integration between AutoStore and SAP EWM is for performance, transparency, and scalability.
LogiPlus takes a consistently process-oriented approach. Rather than focusing solely on technical implementation, the company prioritizes the design of efficient and reliable logistics processes.
“For us, the logistics process always comes first, not the question of what a standard system is capable of. Our goal is to work with our customers to design their warehouse processes in such a way that automation and SAP EWM work together seamlessly,” explains Thilo Matheis, CEO of LogiPlus Consulting.
This approach was also reflected in the structure of the webinar. Logistics Consultant Philipp Klein guided participants through the warehouse along a practical process chain—from goods receipt through putaway and replenishment control to stock transfers, inventory processes, and order-based picking.
The results of the participant survey highlight the high level of dynamism in the market for automated small-parts warehouses. Approximately 85% of participants in the LogiPlus webinar in March 2026 are already actively exploring AutoStore. Particularly noteworthy: nearly half of those surveyed are currently in a concrete evaluation phase, while about a quarter have already implemented the system or are in the midst of doing so.
A key focus of the online event was the interaction between AutoStore, a highly dynamic automated small-parts warehouse, and SAP EWM, a leading warehouse management system. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of direct system integration.
“To fully realize the potential of an AutoStore warehouse, direct integration with SAP EWM is essential. Only when EWM, as the leading system, controls inventory and processes can end-to-end transparency and a stable foundation for automated material flows be achieved,” explains LogiPlus expert Philipp Klein.
This integration architecture allows inventory, warehousing strategies, and material flows to be managed centrally in the SAP system, while AutoStore handles the physical automation in the warehouse.
During the webinar, the “journey of a material” was illustrated using typical warehousing processes. Starting with goods receipt, Philipp Klein demonstrated how putaways can be controlled directly via SAP EWM and how AutoStore bins can be efficiently filled and managed.
Other stages in a material’s journey through the warehouse included internal movements such as inventory processes, quality inspections, and manual container requests, as well as order-based picking for shipping and production. This highlighted how important intuitive user interfaces at workstations and stable process logic in the background are for smooth warehouse operations.
Another focus was on the LP PowerPackage/4AS integration solution. LogiPlus developed this solution based on numerous AutoStore integration projects and in close collaboration with the system manufacturer. This ready-to-run solution, based on best practices, enables standardized and accelerated integration of AutoStore into SAP EWM. It includes preconfigured process modules, modern SAP UI5 user interfaces, and direct API communication between the two systems.
This standardized integration architecture enables companies to reduce project costs while ensuring high stability, transparency, and future-proofing of their automated warehouse processes.
The webinar made it clear that the economic benefits of automated warehouse systems depend largely on their integration into the existing system landscape. Only the combination of intelligent process design, robust system integration, and user-friendly operation creates the conditions for high-performance and scalable intralogistics.
