ERP with SAP solutions - current situation
Many companies still use the classic SAP ERP Central Component (ECC) system. More than 80% of SAP users in Germany are currently using it.
And as DSAG found out in a survey (as of February 2020) of its member companies, around one fifth of the companies surveyed are not planning to migrate to SAP S/4HANA in the next three years. At the same time, however, around half of the companies surveyed already intend to migrate to SAP S/4HANA in the next three years, but many are still without a corresponding strategy.

These numbers mean two things:

Optimisation measures in the existing SAP ECC:
On the one hand, optimisation measures must be carried out in the existing SAP ECC. This is because the need to adapt, expand, and restructure processes is greater than ever in a digital and volatile world. And this is independent of the ERP system used.

Preparation for migration to SAP S/4HANA
At the same time, however, many companies currently using SAP ECC are planning to migrate to SAP S/4HANA. For them, the development of a dedicated migration strategy is essential. However, all preparations must be made for this in the SAP ECC currently in use so that the upcoming transformation project can be designed as efficiently as possible. This applies equally to brownfield and greenfield projects.
