Follmann Chemie GmbH, based in Minden, Germany, specialises in the production of specialty chemicals for the design of surfaces and compounds. The family-owned company was faced with the challenge of improving warehouse monitoring. Due to the complexity within the three company groups, their enormous warehouse activities and the use of a complex Excel cockpit with SQL interfaces to SAP WM, Follmann Chemie had to update the data manually two to three times a day.
The manual updating of the monitoring data several times a day led to long loading times and large volumes of data. As a result, evaluation, reporting and control measures could only be carried out with a very long delay. In view of the upcoming migration from SAP WM to EWM as an embedded version, the chemical specialist was faced with the decision: should the previous Excel cockpit be converted on an EWM basis or replaced by a modern tool?
Follmann Chemie opted for a modern new tool to ensure future viability and had key requirements in this regard. The tool had to provide real-time access to all relevant data and ensure automatic updates so that questions about the workload in the warehouse could be answered immediately. It also needed to be intuitive to use, as ease of use is essential for acceptance and efficiency.
In order to significantly increase the efficiency of the controlling processes and transparency, the decision was made to introduce the LP EasyDashboard add-on to display the relevant EWM data in real time.
Our LP EasyDashboard add-on enables real-time visualisation of key figures from the various warehouse areas – from goods receipt to inventory management and goods issue.
We deliver our solution with various visually appealing standard dashboards. These summarise the most important key figures from the warehouse. In addition, customised dashboards can be created which are adapted to the customer’s processes and requirements.
The dashboards generated online are browser-based. And on any end device – from a Smart TV as a large monitor directly in the warehouse to a PC or the warehouse manager’s cell phone.
The charts are configured in the SAPUI5-based front end with just a few clicks and allow access to various SAP standard data sources (e.g. SAP EWM Monitor) as well as individual data sources (e.g. CDS).
At the moment, the focus is on shipping logistics. The add-on is currently mainly used to integrate and visualise outbound data from the SAP EWM warehouse monitor and CDS data sources.
In future, data for the delivery cockpit, intralogistics, production supply and production disposal will also be integrated.
LP EasyDashboard is currently used at various levels. These are primarily logistics, shift and team management. It also plays an important role in the daily stand-up meetings on the store floor.
In future, the use of dashboards directly on the store floor via screens is also planned.
