Donations instead of Christmas presents – that’s the motto of the SAP and logistics experts from Ludwigshafen again this year
This year, the Christmas donation of LogiPlus Consulting GmbH goes to the project “Der Wünschewagen” of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) in Rhineland – palatinate. The Ludwigshafen-based company presented a check for 2.500€ to the ASB project team based in Worms. With the donation, the ASB regional association in Rhineland – palatinate is funding a last wish for seriously ill people.
This impressive initiative started in 2014 in Nordrhein-Westfalen and now exists at 24 locations nationwide. The project specifically targets people in their final phase of life and fulfills a last wish for them. Because trips are often hardly feasible for many families. Often, passengers may only be transported lying down or with a professional escort. That’s why the ASB-Wünschewagen supports families who can’t manage an excursion on their own and takes the passengers to their favorite place.
The project was launched in Rhineland – palatinate in 2017. This year, volunteers from all over Rhineland – palatinate have already carried out around 50 trips. The “Wünschewagen” is a specially designed ambulance, which has special equipment in addition to the medical equipment and therefore becomes a comfortable motor home. What is special about this project is that it is carried out purely on a voluntary basis and financed exclusively by donations. The journey is free of charge for the passengers and one accompanying person of their choice.
“On each trip, there is one rescue worker and one caregiver on board of the car. Our selfless team takes its passengers to their desired destination free of charge and with optimal care. This could be, for example, a visit to the zoo, the soccer stadium, a lake, the seaside or a concert – or the guests simply want to go home to sleep in their own bed one last time. The list is so varied,” describes Christina Kunde, project coordinator at ASB Landesverband Rheinland-Pfalz. “For me, it’s just great and heart-touching to see that we can use this to give the passengers and their families a smile and positive memories that give them strength for this difficult situation,” says Kunde, describing her personal drive.
„We at LogiPlus are fascinated by this admirable initiative and the commitment with which this project is lived out here in Worms,” explains LogiPlus Managing Director Axel Kunkelmann. And adds: “We are glad to make a contribution to help sick people fulfill their last wish.”
